Sacramento’s hospitality industry will take center stage this September as Wide Open Walls unveils a new public art series honoring four of the region’s most celebrated culinary legends. The Legends of Hospitality murals was officially revealed at a press conference on Tuesday, September 15, 2025, in Sacramento’s Entertainment District on Jazz Alley, located behind the Sheraton Grand hotel.
The initial, photorealistic, black-and-white murals will pay tribute to: Legends of Hospitality Mural
- Biba Caggiano
- Darrell Corti (still inspiring the region today)
- Lina Fat
- Randy Paragary
This series is created by Ian the Painter, a muralist known for his deeply rooted, archival-style community murals and decades-long career traveling across the United States to uplift communities through public art. His work often highlights stories of historical significance, social justice, and regional identity through a visually striking and thoughtful aesthetic.
These culinary figures helped elevate Sacramento’s national profile — from the Farm-to-Fork movement and Legends of Wine, to Michelin Guide recognition and the upcoming Terra Madre Americas. Their influence can be felt throughout the region’s dining scene.
These murals will serve as permanent anchors in Jazz Alley, a fully lit pedestrian corridor, to be enhanced with LED and market lighting. Once complete, the alley will feature nearly two dozen murals celebrating Sacramento’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, transforming the space into a welcoming community gathering place and future event venue.
